Hauptmann Rolf Pingel

Derribó 6 aparatos en la Guerra Civil española en 200 misiones con el J88 y terminó con 28 victorias totales. Nació el 1 de octubre de 1913 en Kiel y tras completar su entrenamiento como piloto fue asignado al recién formado I./JG 134 el 15 de marzo de 1937. Regresó a Alemania y fue nombrado Staffelkapitän del 2./JG 334 el 1 de octubre de 1937, posteriormente la Staffel sería renombrada como 2./JG 53 el 1 de marzo de 1939.

El 10 de septiembre de 1939 derribó un Mureaux 113 francés en Ensdorf siendo su primer derribo en la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Durante la campaña francesa destruyó otros 6 aparatos más, un Hurricane, un bombardero Battle, dos Morane 406 y dos Bloch 151. Durante la Batalla de Inglaterra derribó otros 8 cazas de la RAF, 3 Hurricane y 5 Spitfire, alcanzando las 22 victorias acreditadas. Dos de esos Spitfire fueron destruidos el día 29 de agosto de 1940 en Dungeness. El 28 de septiembre su Bf 109 E-4 (W.Nr. 3756) fue alcanzado en combate y cayó cerca de Hastings pero fue rescatado por el ASR alemán.

Desde noviembre de 1940 al 2 de julio de 1941 sumó otros 6 derribos, 5 de ellos Spitfire. Pingel derribó al as británico John Beard (6 victorias, 1 probable y 3 dañados) del Squadron nº 249 de la RAF. El 10 de julio de 1941 en la operación “Circus nº 42” con el objetivo de Choques enviaron tres bombarderos Stirling  con escolta pero fueron interceptados por la I./JG 26, en el enfrentamiento cayó Rolf Pingel cuando su Bf 109 F-2 “<<+” fue derribado por el fuego defensivo de uno de los Stirling y rematado por los Spitfire de la escolta, cayendo prisionero cerca de Dover.
